Palazzo Francavilla, an aristocratic palace, built in 1783, is located in Palermo’s historic centre and is one of the most striking residences in Sicily.
The two main façades, the one that houses the monumental doorway with the colums on which the arms of the family stand out, and the one on the square of the Teatro Massimo, are influenced by the Renaissance style and distinguished by a strong bicromatic highlight. In the entrance hall of the noble floor, the architech Ernesto Basile, who chosed to follow the traditional Baroque conception of relieving the rank of the family, conceives an important neo-Renaissance ceiling with a strong polychromatic effect, obtained from a rich stucco chest. On the mosaic floor in the centre stands the large coat of arms of the Francavillas.
In this enchanting atmosphere you will attend a cooking lesson that will take place at the Palace noble floor. The cooking starts at 10:30 a.m. and the palace’s chef will show you how to make some classic Sicilian dishes and you will prepare three different dishes: a starter, a pasta course or a main course and a dessert (a 3 course Sicilian meal). Everything takes place together with the householders and the help of the chef. After the lesson you can sit down together to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Guests are given a block notes as well as recipes of the dishes.
