This aristocratic palace, built in 1783, is located in the historic center of Palermo and is one of the most striking residences in Sicily.
The two main façades — one with the monumental doorway framed by columns displaying the family’s coat of arms, and the other overlooking the square of the Teatro Massimo — are influenced by Renaissance style and distinguished by a strong bicolor effect. In the entrance hall of the noble floor, the architect Ernesto Basile, following the traditional Baroque conception of enhancing the family’s prestige, designed an impressive Neo-Renaissance ceiling with a strong polychromatic effect, created from a richly decorated stucco vault. At the center of the mosaic floor stands the large coat of arms bearing the Francavilla family motto.
In this enchanting atmosphere, you will attend a cooking lesson held on the noble floor of the palace. The class starts at 10:30 a.m., when the palace chef will show you how to prepare some classic Sicilian dishes. Together, you will make three different courses: a starter, a pasta or main course, and a dessert (a full three-course Sicilian meal). The experience takes place alongside the householders and with the guidance of the chef. After the lesson, you can sit down together to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Guests will also receive a notebook and the recipes of the dishes prepared.
