EJ · On the Footsteps of Godfather Tour

Explore Sicily’s Old-World beauty, landmarks and culture.

After meeting at your hotel with your English-speaking driver/guide at 9:00 start your tour on the footsteps of Godfather movie….driving to Savoca. We will make a quick stop at the historic Taormina railway station. Built in 1866, the station is known for its unique blend of Sicilian and Art Nouveau architecture, with elegant archways, intricate stonework, and charming tile decorations. Its picturesque setting, nestled between the sea and the hills, makes it one of the most beautiful railway stations in Italy.

Though brief, this stop offers a glimpse into the region’s rich heritage and provides a perfect photo opportunity with the stunning coastline in the background. Afterward, we will continue on to Savoca, famous for its scenic views and as a filming location for The Godfather.

This tour experience is not only a visit of two Sicilian villages but a real dive into the island. It is a drive across the roads and villages of the most beautiful hidden corners of this area, way off the beaten track discovering the beautiful villages of Savoca and Forza d’Agrò, where Francis Ford Coppola shoot the movies “The Godfather II” & “The Godfather III”. A picturesque road runs inland to Savoca, a lovely old village nestled between two hills. The scenic beauty and historic artistic heritage make Savoca one of the most attractive places in the environs of Taormina. This village has been ranked one of the most beautiful medieval towns of Italy.

During the walking tour you can see from exterior San Michele Church and Santa Lucia Church built in the 15th-16th centuries, along with magnificent vistas over the valley. Remains of the Norman Castle can also be seen.

In a private house at the entrance of the village you will find the “Bar Vitelli”, which displays a collection of local artisan tools and photographs taken when Francis Ford Coppola was in this area shooting scenes from The Godfather, Part II. Here you will taste a Lemon granita.

Then continue your journey to Forza d'Agro'. This charming little village overlooks the Arab-Norman castle of Cape Sant’Alessio and the coastline towards Taormina. In 1990, Al Pacino and Sophia Coppola came here to shoot some scenes of the film “Godfather Part III”. From the main square a lane leads up to the close Catalan-Gothic portal in front of the Church of S. Agostino known as the “Triade” with a pleasant 15th century façade (see from exterior) and the Mother Church, dedicated to Holy Mary of the Annunciation. The visit completed, drive back to your chosen hotel.
