EJ · Wineries Tour & Taste

Sicily is a land of surprises and makes you fall in love with its astonishing contradictions, the strong personalities of its people, and the unpredictable character of its countryside.
Starting from your hotel with your guide, you will motor inland: the road that leads to the winery is not merely a road, but rather a magical forty-kilometres, crossing rolling hills, lush valleys and imposing mountain ranges, onwards through the Jato Valley.
Sallier de la tour winery is located within the designated Monreale DOC territory, an area with ancient roots in winemaking and a territory rich in history and agricultural expertise. It’s a charming corner of Sicily.
Tasca d’Almerita has invested in Syrah, a variety studied from all agronomic and productive angles. The work of Tenuta Sallier de La Tour is told today through three different interpretations of this variety; following a project to enhance the territory, along with Syrah, other native arieties such as Grillo, Inzolia, and Nero d’Avola are also cultivated. Here you are welcomed and embraced by vineyards and the reigning queen is Syrah. This varietal’s eastern origins coexist harmoniously with the native Sicilian varietals Nero d’Avola, Inzolia and Grillo. Each has a unique personality in the vineyard. Pleasant walk through the vineyard, visit the cellar and tasting of 3 wines in pairing with Local products.
Founded by the Vaccaro family, the Case Alte winery has been producing wines for three generations. Among the hills of Camporeale, in the upper part of Belice area, there are 10 hectares of vineyards of the Case Alte company. It is an ancient and charming territory, rich in history where agriculture is has always been the prevalent activity, and the climatic conditions have made it an ideal place for vine cultivation.
You will be guided to visit the vineyards and the winemaking cellar. During the visit they will illustrate, in addition to the history of the family and the company, the cultivation techniques and processes producing some of the DOC SICILIA and DOC MONREALE labels. Then you will be tasting four wines accompanied by local cheeses and cold cuts.
Then, after re-joining your motor-coach, you will reach the second winery, Alessandro di Camporeale winery. This is a fourth generation family-owned and operated winery.  The estate is at the foot of a hill overlooking the Mandranova Plain.  There are 35 hectares of vineyards at about 400 meters. The climate is mild and the fertile clay and limestone-based soil are ideal for producing a wide variety of different grapes. The approach in the vineyard follows the overall values of tradition,  experience and knowledge of the land.  All vine related activities are carried out by hand,  following organic farming principles such as biodiversity to combat parasites and using green manure to promote soil fertility. After your arrival at the winery you will be leading in the vineyard such as in the cellar, to discover where and how the Alessandro di Camporeale wines originate from. During the tour they will illustrate the viticulture practices and the wine making process, beyond the history of the family. After the visit, you will be tasting 5 wines , including a dessert wine, in pairing with 5 strictly seasonal traditional local dishes.
After your relaxing time at the winery you will be driven back to Hotel Villa Igiea.
