CSC · Siena & San Gimignano Tour with Lunch

This excursion includes a private transfer combining two of the main Tuscan destinations: Siena and San Gimignano.

Siena “the beloved” is a mystical, gentle, passionate and generous art center inviting visitors to stroll through its narrow Gothic streets, lined with palaces and patrician mansions, which converge on the famous Piazza del Campo, where twice a year the Palio transforms the square into a horse racing ground.

More than anywhere else Siena brings to life the reality of a medieval city. The Cathedral (Duomo) is famous for the paving, which is unique in the world. About forty artists worked on the 56 marble panels portraying in graffiti or intarsia works, mythological figures such as Sibyls, Virtues and Allegories and scenes from the Old Testament in a lively and delicate manner.

San Gimignano is located in the heart of the Chianti Region. This charming village stands on a hilltop in the rolling Tuscan countryside where vineyards and olive groves grow. Its numerous towers of nobility have earned it the nickname of "San Gimignano of the Fine Towers".

As a matter of fact San Gimignano was an important textile center which guarded the secret of yellow saffron dye. To protect the precious cloth from the sun and the dust, the craftsmen built the tall towers to hang their long works of art. The stairways were fixed on the outside of the towers, so as not to waste any space inside. A visit to this fascinating village is a memorable walk through history.
